There are a few things you must know about freemasonry but before that what is freemasonry? It is fraternal organization that consists of people with a good character from different religion, group, cast, creed and race with different social and ethnic backgrounds who share the belief in the fatherhood of God and the brotherhood of mankind.
Here are a few things you need to know about the organization –
- It isn’t a religion – Freemasonry is not a religion. Most people misunderstand the concept. It doesn’t matter if you’reHindu-Muslimm or Christian, you can voice your own opinion, believe in your religion and be your own thinker.
- No one talks about religion and politics – There is no discussion about the religion and political things. It is a big no. They only discuss about events, things based on charity and brotherhood.
- No one welcomes the Atheists – Freemasonry has nothing to do with atheism. In fact, atheists are not welcomed in freemasonry. The organization is for believers. Although it isn’t religion per say, it does believe in existence of a super power holding the globe and managing the mankind. But atheists don’t believe in any existence of any super power; be it positive or negative. Therefore no place for atheism.
- A lot if founding fathers of the organization were not freemasons – Benjamin Franklin, George Washington, and James Monroe were freemasons. John Hancock and Paul Revere were freemasons too but many leading figures in the American Revolution – including John and Samuel Adams, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison and Thomas Paine – were not Masons. 9 of the 56 figures who signed the Declaration of Independence were confirmed masons. Others were not.
Freemason is an organization for the believers. Freemasonry provides opportunities for sincere, honest, forthright men who believe in God and desire to contribute to the improvement of their communities and themselves.
