People usually book hotel rooms when they are in a place for a business or a personal trip and look to cut costs by booking a cheap hotel. Booking a hotel that is cheap isn’t the problem; the problem is booking a cheap hotel. Most people confuse the two and end up choosing the latter thinking that it is the same. Here in this article, we’ll discuss some of the things you have to keep in mind before you book a hotel.
Location is Everything
Choosing a hotel in the remote side of the town, you’re going to visit makes no sense. And there is a reason why that hotel is giving you cheaper rents because of the distance from the heart of the city. The cost you’re saving in the hotel room is negated by the amount of cab fare it will take for you to reach your destination. So say you’re looking to relax on the beach, then book a moderately priced hotel that is walking distance from the beach instead of a hotel that is giving you lower rates, but it requires you to take a cab to reach the beach.
Our advice to you is that the reviews of any place need to be taken with a pinch of salt. Disgruntled customers tend to write bad reviews for a number of reasons. But if you find that the hotel you’re planning to stay in has really bad reviews, then it is time to look for a new hotel. Read the reviews to understand whether the issue is general or it is targeted at a specific individual. You should be able to separate criticism of the hotel from the criticism a bell boy faced. Remember it is one thing to make a mistake of not looking at reviews and sign up on a cheap hotel; it is a bigger mistake to not heed the warnings raised by previous customers.
Airports are usually located far from the city due to a number of reasons. It can take a long time and be extremely expensive to shuttle from the airport to your hotel. So call up the hotel you are planning to stay and find out if they have a taxi service that can shuttle you from the airport to the hotel. Or better yet look for a hotel that is located midway between where you want to visit and the airport; this works if that cheap hotel you were looking at doesn’t have a cab service.
